Indian tribal silver earrings. Old/antique. Durga/Hanuman.Sterling silver 925

This is a pair of old/antique silver earrings from India.

The 2 pieces were originally small amulets which have been been made and worn by the tribal gypsy people of Rajasthan in Northern India. They are 50 - 150 years old, and are made of extremely pure silver (98%). One features the goddess Durga riding a lion, the other is Hanuman the monkey god. These would have been used to offer protection to the wearer. I bought them myself in Rajasthan and matched the 2 amulets to make a pair of earrings.  The secure leverback ear hooks are sterling silver 925.

The amulets are 1.4 cm across amd  2.8 cm high, including the hoop. From the top of the ear hooks the earrings are 4cm long (just over 1.5").

I am the designer of these earrings and I have put them together with my own hands. I have been making my living exclusively from designing and  making jewellery for 9 years. I travel every year to seek out old and tribal silver from Asia and India along with semi-precious stones. Back at home in Brighton, England,  I make these loose pieces up into beautiful and unusal jewellery.

Every item will be send beautifully packaged in a cotton gift bag made especially for me by a women's self help group in India.
